Woodside hires DeepOcean for IMR work on Sangomar field off Senegal

Woodside Energy has awarded ocean services provider DeepOcean frame agreements to provide subsea inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) services for the Sangomar field offshore Senegal.

The Sangomar Field Development Phase 1 features the Léopold Sédar Senghor FPSO, named after the first president of Senegal, which is moored approximately 100 km south of Dakar. The oil field started production earlier this month.

Phase 1 includes 23 wells – 11 production wells, 10 water injection wells, and two gas injection wells. Of the 23 wells, 21 have been drilled and completed including nine producers. The subsea system comprises wellheads and subsea trees, in-line tees, manifolds, flowlines and risers, flowline-end terminals, and subsea umbilicals. Woodside is the operator and owns an 82% stake in the field while Petrosen owns the remaining 18%.

DeepOcean’s scope of work will include project management, engineering, and execution of subsea services such as inspection, survey, intervention, and maintenance, as well as additional services such as underwater inspection of the FPSO and standalone ROV operations. A local partner, Teranga Oil and Gas Services will assist with the work.

The frame agreements were also awarded to DeepOcean’s subsidiary, Searov Offshore, which will work jointly with the company’s office in Séte and Teranga.

“We have extensive experience from similar IMR operations offshore West Africa, but this is our first project offshore Senegal and with Woodside,” said Øyvind Mikaelsen, CEO of DeepOcean.
