Caroline Yang elected president of Singapore Shipping Association

Caroline Yang, the CEO of Hong Lam Marine, has been elected president of the Singapore Shipping Association and becomes the association’s first female president.

Yang succeeds ICS chairman Esben Poulsson, who has led the 460-member association since July 2015.

Yang started her career with Hong Lam Marine as in-house counsel in 1991 and was appointed executive director in 2002. Hong Lam is Singapore’s largest bunker vessel operator.

“I am honoured by the trust the Council has placed in me by electing me as SSA President for the 2019/2020 term… As we navigate into the future together, the task of the council is to work with all stakeholders to champion Maritime Singapore, to keep SSA relevant and responsive to our members, and to encourage participation by our members in our shared goal,” Yang said of her election.
