Rehobot found almost one month after pirate strike
Manila: After more than three weeks the tanker Rehobot has been found in Philippine waters.
The Indonesian-flagged chemical tanker was hijacked on the night of January 28 off Lembeh Island in Indonesia. Three days later all 14 Indonesian crew were found in life rafts.
Last night the Philippine Coast Guard said the a had run aground in far south of the county, off Davao Oriental. The ship was identified as the Rehobot this morning.
Initial investigations have revealed signs of spillage of unknown substance found onboard the ship.
The Rehobot is one of three chemical and product tankers to have been struck by criminal gangs in Southeast Asian waters this year.
