Cosco ship starts second Arctic voyage
Dalian: Cosco’s multi-purpose vessel Yong Sheng (19,461dwt, built 2002), the first Chinese merchant ship to transit the Arctic, started its second Arctic voyage from Dalian Port yesterday.
The ship is expected to arrive at Varberg Port in Sweden around the middle of August and return to China by the the end of October. Cosco said the Arctic route will significantly shorten the shipping distance between China and Europe/North America, reduce fuel consumption and emissions, while improving energy efficiency and operational costs.
Yong Sheng completed the landmark Arctic voyage from Dalian to Rotterdam in 2013.
