EA Technique to provide tugs to Sungai Udang Port
Malaysia’s Sungai Udang Port in Malacca has signed contracts worth a combined RM26.6m ($6.0m) to hire three tugs and a mooring boat from E.A. Technique.
The Malaysia-listed company will provide the port with two harbour tugs with 60-tonne bollard pull and another with 40-tonne bollard pull, plus the multipurpose mooring boat.
The vessels have been hired on two-year contracts, which commenced on January 1, with the option to extend the period by a further year.
Sungai Udang Port is a key hub port for Petronas, which has a refinery there. The port is operated by MISC, which bought Petronas Maritime Services in June 2015 for RM54.1m (then $14.4m), of which the port operating company Sungai Udang Port Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary.
