Brazil’s troubled state oil firm Petrobras, has suspended production at its P-31 FPSO offshore Rio de Janeiro because of safety concerns about oil and gas leaks, according to Reuters.
The closure, which was prompted after a mixture of oil and water leaked in the FPSO’s pump room, happened on Tuesday but was only confirmed on Thursday.
P-31 is in the Albacora-Leste oil field in the Campos Basin. The field has proven reserves of around 534m barrels.
This is the second stoppage at P-31 in eight days as output was also halted on January 11 after a gas leak was detected.
