Stricken Modern Express under tow
Salvors have succeeded in getting a tow line fixed between the stricken Modern Express car carrier and a Spanish tug. The Cido controlled vessel is now under tow, much to the relief of local authorities who had feared that if the team from SMIT Salvage had failed today the ship would have grounded off southwest France sometime over night.
Crew were evacuated from the car carrier last Tuesday as it listed 40 degrees in stormy conditions with its cargo of timber and diggers having shifted.
