Hoegh LNG has initiated massive fleet expansion, signing up for one firm FSRU and three options with Samsung Heavy Industries as well as another firm FSRU with Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The Samsung vessels have a storage capacity of 170,000 cu m and Höegh LNG/Wärtsila regas plant design with a regasification capacity of 750 MMscf per day day. The firm Samsung FSRU will be delivered in May 2019 and the optional FSRUs will be delivered with approximate six months interval from the delivery of the firm vessel.
The HHI FSRU, meanwhile, will have a storage capacity of 170,000 cu m and a maximum regasification capacity of 1,000 MMscf per day.
Höegh LNG’s president and ceo Sveinung Støhle said the FSRU newbuilding programs at two of the world’s biggest shipyards solidify the firm’s position as the leading FSRU provider to the LNG industry.
South Korean shipyards have now secured more orders – dollars-wise – in the first three weeks of 2017 than they did for the first half of last year.
