New carrier aims to put Djibouti on the map
Djibouti Shipping Lines (DSL), a new carrier based out of the Horn of Africa, plans to launch in April a container shuttle service connecting Djibouti to Berbera in Somaliland, according to Alphaliner.
A chartered-in 1,000 teu ship will act as a feeder taking cargoes from Somalialand to the fast growing port of Djibouti for onward long haul trades.
DSL has plans to call at other ports in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa including Port Sudan and Mogadishu.
DSL is part of Djibouti City-based GSK Group, a diverse conglomerate with interests in construction, multimedia, travel, trading, manufacturing, shipping and logistics.
China Merchants is investing in the port where DP World is already established.
