Brazil’s state oil firm Petrobras and engineering company UTC Engenharia are each telling different stories about why UTC’s platform-servicing contract was halted, according to Reuters.
Petrobras said that UTC stopped construction services on eleven platforms in the Campos Basin of its own accord.
But UTC said it was Petrobras’ decision to not take up extensions of offshore maintenance contracts.
UTC is one of the companies embroiled in the Petrobras corruption scandal that has seen numerous company bigwigs and senior politicians disgraced.
Billions of dollars were lost in the scheme whereby firms seeking business from Petrobras paid bribes in return for inflated contracts.
