Scottish court rules in favour of selling controversial Indian OSV
A sheriff in Scotland has ruled in favour of selling an Indian OSV to pay back hundreds of thousands of dollars of wages owed to the ship’s crew.
The 12 stranded Indian crew on the Malaviya Seven OSV in Aberdeen will now finally head home to India.
The supply vessel has been detained since June last year. The crew’s unpaid wage bill stands at more than $800,000.
The ship’s owner GOL Offshore from Mumbai is in liquidation.
Ken Fleming from the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), told BBC Scotland last month: “GOL Offshore have appeared and disappeared, appeared and disappeared, and are playing with the legal system. The horrific circumstances that it is inflicting on the crew has become unacceptable.”
