Sinokor to take over 30 feeder boxships from Vroon
South Korean owner Sinokor Merchant Marine is taking over a fleet of 30 feeder containerships from Dutch owner Vroon, which is currently under a financial restructuring process.
According to shipbroking sources, the 30 vessels ranging from 700 to 1,700 teu are set to join Sinokor’s fleet in a bank-driven sale.
This week, Coco Vroon stepped down as managing director of Vroon, just days after the company announced an agreement with lenders on a financial restructuring deal.
VesselsValue data shows that Vroon’s container fleet currently stands at 39 vessels with a total capacity of 40,162 teu and an average age of 10 years.
Sinokor currently operates a containership fleet of 33 vessels including 13 feedermaxes. Following the acquisition, the company will become a major intra-Asia feeder shipping operator.
