Transworld takes on another feeder boxship
India’s Transworld Group has bought the 1,608 teu Merkur Tide from Reederei F.A. Vinnen & Co with Alphaliner quoting a price of $4.15m for the 1998-built vessel.
The vessel has been renamed OEL Shravan and is working for Transworld’s Singapore subsidiary, Orient Express Lines.
The Merkur Tide is part of the CC 1600 series of containerships, of which 15 vessels were built from 1994 to 1998. The CC 1600 used to be a popular charter market vessel in the 1990s to 2000s, Alphaliner reported in its latest weekly report.
Transworld has been on aggressive buying binge for much of the last two years.
