Salvors ready to offload bunker fuel from stricken Shreyas boxship
A salvage team yesterday managed to install equipment to the severely damaged Shreyas boxship SSL Kolkata to siphon off fuel from the vessel.
The ship ran aground off the Sunderbans coast after catching fire on June 13.
The ship is wedged around 3 m into the muddy seabed, salvors said yesterday. It contains 200 tonnes of bunker fuel, which will be taken off the ship in the coming days.
Salvage operations have been hampered by the monsoon season to date.
