Hyundai Heavy debuts new regasification system at Gastech

South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) is debuting a compact regasification system called New Hi-ReGAS at this week’s massive Gastech exhibition in Barcelona. The new technology from the Korean shipbuilder is aimed at next-generation LNG FSRUs.

The regasification system uses an indirect heating system that uses a mixed heating medium, reducing weight by more than 70 tons and power consumption by 30% or more compared to conventional glycol systems, according to the company.

HHI claims its new system can help owners save up to $650,000 in annual operating costs.
