Seaboard and BBC Chartering seek joint Americas coverage
American carrier Seaboard Marine and German heavylift giant BBC Chartering are looking to pool their respective multipurpose services connecting the US Gulf with the west coast of South America, according to a filing placed by the carriers with the US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC).
This joint service will be operated in the form of a vessel sharing agreement (VSA), between the US Gulf Coast and Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, the Gulf Coast of Mexico, Chile, Peru and Ecuador.
Alphaliner reports the loop is expected to be operated with five container-friendly multipurpose vessels of 17,000 t0 25,000 dwt, three of which to be contributed by Seaboard and two by BBC.
