Aker Solutions’ Brazilian subsidiary CSE hit by cyber attack

Norway’s Aker Solutions has informed that its Brazilian subsidiary CSE has fallen victim to a cyber attack, resulting in the temporary shutdown of most of its IT systems.

The company said that it does not yet know the full extent of the situation but is working to resolve it with external expertise.

“The attack is currently directed at CSE, and the attackers claim that they have entered the IT systems, encrypted digital files and locked access to data,” Aker Solutions said in a statement.

Authorities in Brazil have been informed about the incident, and Aker Solutions noted that so far there are no indications that other parts of its IT systems have been infected.

CSE provides maintenance and modification services to oil and gas installations offshore Brazil and has around 450 employees.
