Alpha Omega Marine seals first ship deal

Alpha Omega Marine, a Singapore-based equity investment vehicle created by two well-known names in Greek shipping, has bought its first ship, the 11-year-old As One, an ultramax bulk carrier built in Japan, previously called Marlin V. The acquisition was made in collaboration with Cargill.

Alpha Omega Marine states on its site its aim is to target quality assets at specific market circumstances where it can secure double-digit returns combined with low residual value risk.

The company’s two managing partners are Vasileios Pateras and Thanos Pasialis. Pateras is the third generation of the Pateras family, a line of shipowners from the island of Oinnouses Chios.

Pasialis, meanwhile, started his career with a shipowner in Athens before entering broking, working with SSY and most recently Ifchor in Singapore.
