Anoop Sharma takes over as chief of Essar Shipping

Mumbai: Capt. Anoop Kumar Sharma has taken over as whole-time director and ceo of Essar Shipping, following the retirement of managing director A R Ramakrishnan on 31st March 2015.

Capt. Sharma, who has been with the Mumbai-based shipowner since August 2008 as ceo, will take up Ramakrishnan’s functions and be directly responsible to the Board.

An alumnus of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, and a fellow of Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London, Capt. Sharma is also a member of the governing council of Narottam Morarjee Institute of Maritime Studies.

He was earlier associated with the state-run Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) for 16 years, his final post there being senior vice-president of the Chartering division, responsible for exploring global business opportunities for bulk carriers, tankers, containers and other vessels, and developing new businesses.
