Bourbon and Horizon Maritime form offshore joint venture

French offshore vessel player Bourbon and its Canadian counterpart Horizon Maritime have established a joint venture company targeting the North Sea and Canadian offshore sectors.

Bourbon Horizon will be incorporated in Norway with a base fleet of seven offshore support vessels of which five platform suppliers, a WROV-fitted large AHTS and a multipurpose support vessel currently configured for subsea and trenching services.

The company will be led by Horizon Maritime’s director of offshore services Cliff Gaetz, supported by Bjørn Remøy, managing director of Bourbon Offshore Norway and senior operational leads, Ståle Kyrkjedelen and Colin Doody.

In addition to providing marine services and operations, Bourbon Horizon will also offer comprehensive shipmanagement services to other shipowners in the industry.

Commenting on the JV, Rodolphe Bouchet, Bourbon Marine & Logistics CEO, said: “Entering this strategic partnership with Horizon Maritime represents a tremendous opportunity to strengthen our current position in the North Sea markets. The Bourbon Horizon JV will also support the consolidation of the OSV sector in harsh environments, while achieving substantial economies of scale, to allow the creation of a diversified and particularly competitive offering.”
