CK Line taps Huangpu Wenchong for pair of feeder boxships

South Korea’s CK Line has ordered a pair of feeder containerships at Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding in China.

The Seoul-based firm has signed up for 2,700 teu ships in its first deal with the CSSC-affiliated specialist in feeder construction.

The price and delivery dates for the 188.8m-long SDARI designed ships have not been revealed. Brokers are quoting over $40m for similar newbuild tonnage.

The ships will be KR-classed and according to CK Line’s list of owned ships, the largest in its fleet upon delivery.
