Danaos linked to boxship orders at Yangzijiang

Greek boxship owner Danaos Corporation has been linked to a pair of newbuild orders at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding in China.

Industry sources suggest the New York-listed tonnage provider is behind two 8,000 teu vessels, out of 25 boxship contracts the yard most recently committed to deliver between 2025 and 2027, including ten 24,000 teu LNG dual-fuel units for France’s CMA CGM and 6 methanol dual-fuel 9,000 teu ships for Maersk.

The deal brings one of the world’s largest containership lessors’ orderbook to 10 newbuilds that will add to its 68-strong fleet. The newbuilds will be scrubber-fitted and methanol-ready.
