Denzil Stuart, famous name in marine insurance, dies aged 83

London: Denzil Stuart, one of the best-known names in shipping insurance has died, aged 83.

Stuart was both a journalist and PR man covering marine insurance and P&I for many decades for the mainstream and shipping press, before getting into the world of public relations.

Stuart’s long list of clients and accolades included being P&O’s first ever press officer as well representing the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) for many years. He was active via his own company Denzil Stuart Associates until very recently, the last press release issued by his firm was just three weeks ago.

Sam Chambers

Starting out with the Informa Group in 2000 in Hong Kong, Sam Chambers became editor of Maritime Asia magazine as well as East Asia Editor for the world’s oldest newspaper, Lloyd’s List. In 2005 he pursued a freelance career and wrote for a variety of titles including taking on the role of Asia Editor at Seatrade magazine and China correspondent for Supply Chain Asia. His work has also appeared in The Economist, The New York Times, The Sunday Times and The International Herald Tribune.
