Diana Shipping fixes out panamax to ST Shipping and Transport

New York-listed Greek bulker owner Diana Shipping has entered into a time charter contract with Glencore’s Singapore-based ST Shipping and Transport for one of its panamax dry bulk vessels. Also, the company’s offshore wind JV exercised an option for an additional two CSOVs.

ST Shipping hired the 2013-built, 75,403-dwt bulker Maera. The gross charter rate is $13,750, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period until a minimum of November 20, 2024, up to a maximum of January 20, 2025.

The charter is expected to begin on January 28, 2024. According to the company, the vessel is currently chartered to Cargill International at a gross charter rate of $12,000 per day, minus a 4.75% commission paid to third parties.

Diana Shipping claimed that the employment of the Maera is anticipated to generate around $4.03m of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter.

The Semiramis Paliou-led company has a fleet currently consisting of 40 dry bulk vessels – four newcastlemax, nine capesize, five post-panamax, six kamsarmax, seven panamax, and nine ultramax. As of today, the combined carrying capacity of the company’s fleet is approximately 4.5m dwt with a weighted average age of 10.59 years.

Earlier this month, entered into a time charter contract with Stone Shipping for the 2016-built, 60,309-dwt DSI Aquarius and won a contract extension for the post-panamax bulker Amphitrite with Cobelfret.
