Diana Shipping wins charters for dry bulk duo

Greek bulker owner Diana Shipping has entered into time charter contracts for two of its dry bulk vessels with ASL Bulk Marine and ST Shipping and Transport.

The Semiramis Paliou-led owner of 41 bulkers fixed out its ultramax DSI Pyxis to Bulk Marine. The gross charter rate is $14,250 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period until a minimum of October 10, 2024, up to a maximum of December 10, 2024.

According to the company, the charter of the 60,362 dwt, 2018-built DSI Pyxis started on September 24, 2023.

As for the other deal, ST Shipping and Transport hired Diana Shipping’s 2009-built kamsarmax bulker Maia. The gross charter rate is $13,500 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period until a minimum of June 15, 2024, up to a maximum of August 20, 2024. The charter for the 82,193-dwt dry bulk vessel also started on September 23, 2023.

Diana Shipping believes that the employment of the two ships will generate approximately $8.91m of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled periods of the time charters.

The company’s fleet currently consists of 41 dry bulk vessels – four newcastlemax, ten capesize, 5 post-panamax, 6 kamsarmax, 7 panamax, and 9 ultramax. As of today, the combined carrying capacity of the fleet is approximately 4.7m dwt with a weighted average age of 10.48 years.
