Dingheng Shipping partners with WUT on smart shipping

Chinese chemical tanker operator Shanghai Dingheng Shipping has entered into a framework agreement with Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) to jointly develop smart shipping technologies.

Under the agreement, Dingheng Shipping will provide the funds and laboratory and WUT will provide expertise to start a series of collaborations on innovative technologies for smart shipping.

WUT has been one of the leaders in the development of unmanned ships in China. The university is a partner with Zhuhai Yunzhou Intelligence Technology in the development of China’s first unmanned cargo ship, Cloudborne, and it is also joined the development of China’s first autonomous ship test ground – Wanshan Marine Test Field in Zhuhai.

Dingheng Shipping is mainly focused on the operation of medium and small chemical tankers. The company announced an ambitious expansion plan to build a fleet of 100 chemical tankers last year.
