dship Carriers signs for up to eight MPP newbuilds in China

German MPP specialist dship Carriers is expanding its fleet with up to eight heavylift multipurpose newbuilds in China.

The Hamburg-based company has commissioned China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing for four firm 15,000 dwt units and two plus two optional vessels dubbed D500.

dship Carriers said the D500 series, which according to shipbuilding databases will be the company’s first newbuilds and also the largest ships in its fleet, would boast a significant reduction in fuel consumption and have 50% more cargo hold and deck capacity.

Founded in 2014 by Thomas Press, dship Carriers operates a fleet of around 20 ships. The Lars Feller-led independent outfit of the deugro group said it expects deliveries to start in 2025.
