Dual fuel gets a new meaning

This is the decade of duel fuel newbuilds, no doubt about that. It is the classic shipping hedge. However, what caught me by surprise this month is that it could also be the period of dual fuel ships with no need for oil-based products to power them.

To remarkably little fanfare there’s been some highly significant ship design news breaking this month that do point towards shipping’s beyond petroleum future.
