Eagle Bulk confirms ultramax swoop

Stamford-headquarted dry bulk owner Eagle Bulk Shipping has announced the acquisition of a 2014-built ultramax bulker for $21.2m.

Splash reported the deal last week, identifying the vessel as the Chengxi-built Bao Tong from HTM Shipping, a unit of steel trader Baoyuan International.

According to MSI, the fair market value of the ship is currently $22.4m and likely to increase in future.

The vessel will be renamed Hamburg Eagle, and is scheduled for delivery during the fourth quarter of 2018.
