Empire Navigation buys three bulkers

Greece’s Empire Navigation has been busy in the S&P markets with three ship acquisitions in the past week coming to light, according to broker reports.

Empire snapped up two Japanese-built bulkers – Argo and Indigo – for an en bloc price of just $12.9m.

The two ships had previously changed hands in the past three years for $21m and $15m each respectively.

Empire also came in for another handy bulk carrier, paying Apex Marine Corp from the US $9.5m for the South Korean built Quinn J.

Nikos Arkadis, Empire’s managing director, declined to confirm the acquisitions when contacted by Splash today, saying: “It is a confidential matter.”

Empire Navigation was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Athens.
