Evalend poised to enter LNG trades

Greece’s Evalend Shipping has set the stage for its debut in the liquified natural gas trades.

The Kriton Lendoudis-led diversified owner of mostly bulkers and tankers is said to have penned a letter of intent with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering for two 174,000 cu m LNG carriers.

The ships, costing around $260m each, will be built at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan and delivered in the second half of 2027.

The Athens-based shipowner has over 50 ships and according to VesslesValue another 14 are on order, of which 10 LPG carriers, mostly booked at the same shipyard in South Korea.
