Exmar LPG seals deal for gas carrier quartet

Exmar LPG, a joint venture between Belgium’s Exmar and Seapeak, formerly Teekay LNG Partners, has struck a deal for a quartet of midsize carrier newbuilds.

The Brussels-listed Exmar said in its first-half earnings report that the JV had recently completed a long-term charter for four 40,000 cu m newbuild dual-fuel LPG units.

The deal for the vessels scheduled to deliver in 2026 and 2027 comes with extensions and purchase options attached. No further details have been disclosed, and Exmar has been approached for comment.

Exmar LPG currently owns 11 ships and has four 46,000 cu m units set to deliver from South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in 2024 and 2025.
