Facebook video of Maersk-chartered boxship hitting Antwerp berth goes viral

Two days after it rammed a berth in Antwerp the Korean built Dali, a 10,000 teu containership on long term charter to Maersk Line, remains moored at the Belgian port suggesting the damage it has sustained at its stern is serious. The state of the berth it hit also remains unclear.

A dramatic video posted on Facebook available by clicking here shows the moment the 2015-built giant vessel reversed into the berth operated by PSA International on Monday afternoon. The video has been seen more than 58,000 times.

AIS data from MarineTraffic shows it has since remained moored in Antwerp.

The Marshall Islands-flagged ship is owned by Oceanbulk Containers.

Oceanbulk Containers, PSA International and the Marshall Islands registry all had not replied to inquiries sent by Splash earlier today while a Maersk spokesperson directed Splash inquiries back to the owner, Oceanbulk Containers.

“It may affect the schedule, but contingency planning may limit any customer impact,” a Maersk spokesperson said.
