Floatel International scores UK North Sea charter with Shell

Offshore accommodation vessel specialist Floatel International has been awarded a contract for the provision of accommodation services.

The Oslo-based owner and operator of five semisub flotels said that it won a four-month charter to provide accommodation support to Shell’s UK arm at the Shearwater field in the Central North Sea.

According to the company, the assignment will start in June 2024, with Shell having the option to extend the charter before and after the firm period. Floatel did not provide any more details regarding the deal. Which vessel Shell will use was also left undisclosed.

The only vessel in the company’s fleet without any contracts attached is the Floatel Reliance, currently idle in Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

This is the third contract for Floatel in two weeks. The company last week won a deal for the Floatel Triumph in Australia with Woodside. Earlier that week, the company secured a 90-day contract from Ineos FPS for the Floatel Superior in the UK North Sea.
