Fredriksen ups stake in Edda Wind

Shipping tycoon John Fredriksen has raised his ownership stake in Oslo-listed offshore wind service pure play Edda Wind.

According to a filing with the Oslo Stock Exchange, Fredriksen’s private company, Geveran Trading, has acquired 2m shares in Edda Wind for about $4.5m, adding to the previously held 21.2m shares and now owning around 20.7% of the company.

Edda Wind, also backed by Wilhelmsen, Østensjø, and Idan Ofer, owns and operates three service operation vessels (SOV) and two CSOVs and has nine offshore wind vessels under construction.

Fredriksen bought into the Haugesund-headquartered company in its initial public offering (IPO) in 2021, securing board entry for Geveran. The latest move makes him Edda Wind’s second-largest shareholder behind Wilhelmsen.
