Fujian Shipping signs for pair of ultramaxes at Nantong Xiangyu

Fujian Shipping Group has placed an order for two ultramax bulk carriers at compatriot builder at Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering.

The 64,000 dwt duo is expected to deliver in 2025, according to Clarksons Research. No price has been revealed but brokers are quoting around $33m for similar newbuild tonnage.

Xiangyu has been marketing its self-designed 63,500 dwt and 79,900 dwt bulk carrier models to considerable success over the past year, with both domestic and international shipping players contracting with the eastern Chinese yard.

The shipbuilder was founded in 2016, taking over the facilities of Minde Shipyard and in addition to bulk carriers, has a track record in chemical tanker construction.

Fujian Shipping Group is listed on VesselsValue with a fleet of 10 ships made up of three bulkers, five general cargo vessels and a pair of MPP units.
