Georgia port secures federal funding

The Port of Brunswick in Georgia has been awarded $15m in federal funding to help develop its East River Terminal, a bulk facility.

The project includes building a new 165m long dock after demolishing the old one, as well as replacing half of a second dock on the site. The federal money will also aid dredging at one berth.

“This $15m federal grant will enable Georgia grown forest products and other commodities to compete stronger in world markets through a competitive port,” Jamie McCurry, chief administrative officer for the Georgia Ports Authority, said in a statement.
