Golden Energy Offshore given six-month PSV extension

Norwegian owner Golden Energy Offshore Services (GEOS) has won an extension for the charter of the Energy Empress platform supply vessel (PSV).

The initial deal for the 2019-built large PSV was won back in August 2022 with an option to extend the contract.

The extension for six months for the platform supplier was agreed for a day rate of $18,500 per day.

As a result of the extension, the vessel has secured firm employment until April 24, 2024. Oil and gas giant BP is the charterer and has one more six-month option for the PSV.

At the time of the initial deal, the Energy Empress was set to work on an offshore drilling campaign in the Caribbean and the work started at the end of September 2022.

The first 12 months of the contract were for a minimum payment of approximately $7.9m. While the two six-month options, if both are exercised, will provide an income of an additional $8m.
