Gram Car Carriers panamax wins five-year $114m charter

Norwegian tonnage provider Gram Car Carriers (GCC) has signed a five-year time charter deal for the 2007-built Viking Queen car carrier.

The Oslo-listed firm said via social media that with this latest deal, all four of its panamax class car carriers have been fixed on long-term contracts with an average duration of almost five years.

GCC did not reveal the customer but described it as “a leading European operator.” The 7,000 ceu ship is expected to begin the new contract in late January 2024 at a rate of $62,300 per day. The deal will add $114m to the company’s backlog.

“A significant share of our 2024 and 2025 revenue days have been secured at attractive dayrates, providing a strong foundation for growth in earnings and dividends in line with our strategy,” said Georg A. Whist, CEO of GCC.
