Great Lakes secures more offshore wind work

Houston-based Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation has won its third subsea rock installation contract for an offshore wind project off the US East Coast.

The deal, which covers procurement, transportation and installation, involves cable protection, while prior contracts have been for subsea rock installation for foundation stabilisation.

Great Lakes will use the first Jones Act-compliant subsea rock installation vessel, currently under construction at Philly Shipyard to carry out the project.

Operations on the unnamed project, which remains subject to final investment decision, are expected to start in 2025 and continue into 2026.

Lasse Petterson, president and CEO at Great Lakes, said: “This project award further confirms Great Lakes’ ambition and leadership to support the emerging U.S. offshore wind industry and we look forward to expanding our participation in this market over the coming years.”
