Greek owners Capital and Polembros book tanker newbuilds at New Times

Greece’s Capital Maritime and Trading and Polembros Shipping have booked tanker newbuilding slots at China’s New Times Shipbuilding.

Evangelos Marinakis’ Capital has lifted its LNG dual-fuel suezmax orderbook at the Jiangsu-based shipyard to six with two more 156,000 dwt ships. The price tag for the previous four units expected to deliver through 2026 was reported at around $87m.

Marinakis has also lined up up to four 112,500 dwt LNG dual-fuel LR2 tankers at the same yard in the form of a letter of intent.

Meanwhile, Spiros Polemis-controlled Polembros has signed a debut order at New Times for a pair of suezmax tankers with early delivery in the second quarter of 2025.

No price has been revealed for the 157,000 dwt units, which will be LNG-ready and fitted with scrubbers. The order will boost Polembros’ tanker fleet to 13 ships, with nine suezmaxes on a fully delivered basis.
