Gunvor secures AMPTC LR2 newbuilds

Swiss-based commodity trading giant Gunvor, through its shipping subsidiary Clearlake, has secured modern LR2 tonnage from Arab Maritime Petroleum Transport Company (AMPTC).

The Kuwait-based owner has committed its 2023-built 113,800 dwt Ocean Blue for 60 months and the trio Crystal, Saqr and Seahorse most likely when they deliver from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in 2024.

VesselsValue database shows the products carrier Ocean Blue fixed to Saudi Arabia’s top shipping line, Bahri, for two years at $41,000 per day, plus a one-year option to extend the charter.

According to Maersk Broker, Clearlake will be paying $27,000 per day for each ship over the five years.

In other tanker charter news, ExxonMobil has fixed Hayfin’s 2016-built scrubbed-fitted suezmax GH Holiday for 18 months at a daily rate of $44,500.
