US tanker owner International Seaways has offloaded its 15-year-old MR2 tanker High Jupiter.
Brokers have tied the 51,600 dwt ship to an Indian buyer, with Greece’s Intermodal placing Mumbai-based Seven Islands Shipping behind the deal worth around $22.4m.
New York-listed International Seaways acquired the South Korean-built product tanker following the $2.2bn takeover of Diamond S Shipping, which the latter picked up from Cido Shipping for $40m in 2011.
International Seaways owns and operates a fleet of 75 vessels, with six MRs built in 2007 and the youngest unit in that segment, the Seaways Kenosha, built in 2016.
In July, Vitol sold its 2008-built 50,600 dwt MR2 Elandra Corallo for 23m with a special survey set for October this year, the same as for High Jupiter.
Several South Korean-built MR tonnage had been reported this month to change hands, including the 2008 STX-built 46,200 dwt Grand Ace8 for $23.8m, albeit with a special survey completed in March, while Pyxis Tankers is set to bank nearly $41m from the sale of some seven years younger SPP-built 50,300 dwt Pyxis Epsilon. Bahri sold its 2005-built 46,300 dwt pair for $17.3m apiece, and Greek owner Harry Vafias shipped out the 2008 SPP-built 50,700 dwt Aquadisiac to spinoff Imperial for $25.6m.
