James Fisher has firmed up contracts for two more chemical tankers in China.
The UK-based owner has declared its option at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou to build the 6,000 dwt units after ordering the first duo in October, costing $28m each for delivery in 2025.
The two optional tankers should deliver in the second half of 2026, according to Clarksons. All ships will be LNG dual-fuelled.
James Fisher Everard, acquired by the James Fisher Group in 2007, operates a fleet of 17 product carriers ranging from 3,000 to 35,000 dwt along the European coastline and in the Caribbean islands.
In 2021, the company announced plans to add two LNG dual-fuel IMO II tankers from China Merchant Jinling. The 6,100 dwt Sir John Fisher joined the fleet in late 2022 and its sister vessel, Lady Maria Fisher, followed shortly after in early 2023.
