Jasper Offshore sells 45-year-old drillship for scrap

Singapore’s Jasper Offshore has sold its 1973-built drillship Jasper Explorer for scrap.

According to rig broker Bassoe Offshore, the drillship was sold to cash buyer GMS for a price of $6.3m.

The 45-year old drillship was renamed many times during its service life, and it has been stacked since March 2014.

Following the sale, Jasper Offshore’s fleet consists of 41-year-old semi-submersible floatel Jasper Cosmopolitan.
