Kolkata port execs arrested on corruption charges

Police swooped late last night to arrest two Indian port officials on charges of corruption.

Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) chairman RPS Kahlon and Jagtap Dattaji, director of Bharat Calcutta Container Terminal, were both apprehended and accused of accepting bribes totaling $2.98m.

A joint team of the city police and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated the duo at a city hotel before they were arrested.
The duo have been booked for criminal conspiracy and under the Prevention of Corruption Act. They are due in court today.
