Livanos in tanker newbuild spree

Greece’s Livanos Group is swooping for a series of tanker newbuilds in South Korea and Japan. The company, via subsidiary Sun Enterprises, is negotiating with Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for two firm plus two options of aframaxes with the firm units slated for 2018 delivery. Livanos has a long record of ordering at HHI. A letter of intent has been signed and the price is thought to be around $47m per ship.

Meanwhile, in Japan the Greek owner has signed with Japan Marine United (JMU) for a VLCC. No price has been disclosed but the ship is understood to be 300,000 dwt and with a shallow draft.
