Maran Gas executes options for LNG carrier and FSRU at DSME

Maran Gas, a unit of Greek owner Angelicoussis Shipping Group, has provided shipyards with some rare cheer at Posidonia this week, declaring options for a 173,400 cu m LNG carrier and an FSRU of the same size at South Korean yard Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME).

Both of the two newbuildings are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2020.

Maran Gas ordered one FSRU at DSME in December 2016, and the contract included options for two LNG carriers or FSRUs.

According to VesselsValue, Maran Gas currently operates a fleet of 11 LNG carriers and has nine LNG carriers and two FSRUs under construction at DSME including the latest orders.

Normally at Posidonia a raft of high profile orders are placed by Greek owners at Asian yards. However, during this edition owners have kept their pens in their pockets with very few contracts to report.
