Mats Berglund returns to Pacific Basin

Mats Berglund, the former CEO of Hong Kong’s Pacific Basin, has made a return to the company he led for nine years.

The dry bulk company – now headed by Martin Fruergaard – announced yesterday that Berglund will take on a non-executive director position. Also joining as an independent non-executive director is Alexandre Emery.

Berglund was at the helm of Pacific Basin from 2012 to 2021. Prior to that his career included time at Stena, Overseas Shipholding Group and Chemoil Energy.

Starting out with the Informa Group in 2000 in Hong Kong, Sam Chambers became editor of Maritime Asia magazine as well as East Asia Editor for the world’s oldest newspaper, Lloyd’s List. In 2005 he pursued a freelance career and wrote for a variety of titles including taking on the role of Asia Editor at Seatrade magazine and China correspondent for Supply Chain Asia. His work has also appeared in The Economist, The New York Times, The Sunday Times and The International Herald Tribune.
