Meadway orders handysize bulker at Oshima

Greek owner Meadway Shipping & Trading has contracted Oshima Shipbuilding for a handysize bulker newbuild, taking its orderbook at Japanese shipyards to eight.

No price has been revealed for the 42,300 dwt vessel that the Costas Dellaportas-led outfit expects to deliver in the first quarter of 2026.

Handysize newbuilds averaged about $30m this month, as per Clarksons data.

In addition to the Oshima order, Meadway has a total of four 40,000 dwt bulk carriers booked at Namura Shipbuilding in Japan for delivery in 2024 and three eco-friendly ultramaxes under construction at Tsuneishi set to deliver in 2025 and 2026.
